In Alberta, starting April 1, 2025, the childcare fee structure is changed significantly: The Affordability Grant has replaced the previous subsidy model, introducing a standardized fee structure for licensed childcare services. Families will pay a flat-rate fee for children up to kindergarten age, which will be $326.25 per month for full-time care and $230 per month for part-time care. While the flat fee standardizes costs, some licensed day homes may charge supplemental fees for additional services. Families with school-aged children may still be eligible for financial assistance through the Alberta Child Care Subsidy, which is based on family income.
